🌿 Podocarpus nagi (Nageia nagi) Care Tips
Also known as Asian Bayberry or Nagi Tree, Podocarpus nagi is a slow-growing, broadleaf evergreen tree native to East Asia. - Prefers partial shade to full sun.
- In hotter climates, some afternoon shade prevents leaf scorch.
- In cooler climates, full sun encourages compact growth.

- Best suited for mild subtropical to warm temperate climates.
- Sensitive to hard frost—young trees need winter protection.

- Symbolizes longevity and peace in Japanese and Chinese culture.
- Ideal for courtyard gardens, temple grounds, or as a specimen tree.
- Leaves are sometimes used ceremonially (e.g., in Shinto rituals in Japan).

Podocarpus nagi is dioecious, meaning male and female flowers appear on separate trees. If you want fruit (a small fleshy drupe), you’ll need both male and female trees.
